A Method to Detect Candidates of Phoneme Boundary in Inaudible Consonant Based on Surface EMG

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We research on inaudible speech recognition with surface EMGs around the lip and neck of a speaker. In out previous work, we could detect boundary between two vowels in natural inaudible continuous speech. However, the method for vowels isn't sufficient to detect boundaries about consonants. To extract characteristics about a consonant, we proposed "differential of center-of-balance" (d-CoB). Based on the definition of d-CoB on the previous work, while the method can detect boundaries about a consonant in utterance at a slow speed, it frequently fails to detect them at a normal speed. In this paper, we redefine d-CoB, and propose a method to detect boundaries of inaudible consonants.
