Analysis of Sweeping Skill of Curling by 3D Acceleration Sensor

(in English) To assess curlers’ skill in sweeping motion, a compact and wireless acceleration sensor was used. Such small and lightweight sensor is called as a wearable device, and there is only the minimum possibility to interfere the curling performance. We put the sensor on a sweeping brush, and measure the three-dimensional features of the acceleration. Examinees to be measured the performance are nine female university students. A compact and wireless acceleration sensor was attached on a sweeping brush horizontally. The acceleration data were transferred to a PC tablet quickly via the wireless Bluetooth interface. The acceleration data were obtained along X-, Y- and Z-axes respectively. Quantitative measurements using a wearable device for the three-dimensional acceleration measurements clearly showed performance changes for curlers. They provide certain benefits for the skill training program for university curlers.
