Patch Type Meta-surface with Polarization Conversion Function

(in English) Meta-surface is the structure that metal patches are arranged on ground plane periodically in small space. It realizes a property that not to in natural world. The meta-surface is expected that it is available for propagation path improvement as reflector with any reflection angle. However, enough examination is not accomplished on the control of the polarization using the meta-surface. In this paper, a structure of new meta-surface with polarization conversion function which converts from linear polarization to circular polarization is proposed. It is clarified that a the relationship between the structure of the unit cell and the frequency bandwidth. In addition, the relationship between area of patches and the axial ratio (AR) of the reflected wave is shown. The meta-surface is designed in consideration of band properties. As a result, a 73.9% of relative frequency bandwidth of AR<3dB and 68.1% of AR<2dB was obtained when the distance between the patch &#8211; ground plane is h=0.11λ0, the patch size ratio is r=0.65, aspect ratio is py/px=5.0 and size of the ground plane of meta-surface is L=1.6λ0, and number of patches is 6×30.
