Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Hybrid vehicles (HVs) and electric vehicles (EVs) are hard to be noticed by pedestrians because of their quietness. We have been proposing the vehicle detection scheme using a smartphone and some wearable devices such as a Google Glass. In this paper, we propose a machine learning approach using a high frequency noise generated by a motor unit for a clue to guess the vehicle speed and vehicle type robustly. When we used J48 classifier for the recognition, the scheme can detect EVs and HVs with 92% and 82% accuracy. It can also distinguish the vehicle speed and vehicle types according to our evaluation.
