Piecewise time-scale modification based on prosodic features that maintains Speakers' impressions

(in English) Time-scale modification is a time-stretching technique for changing playback durations with preserving their pitches.
The method preserves original pitch information and can maintain speakers' personal characters.
However, converted signals may convey different affective impressions of speakers.
The aim of this study is to develop a novel time-scale modificationd by preserving a speakers' affective impressions and personality.
In the paper, we introduce and evaluate a piecewise rate variable conversion, where time-expansion rate is given to phrase by phrase based on the fundamental frequencies and magnitudes of phrase.
Evaluation results indicate that piecewise variable rate conversation improves affective impressions compared to fixed rate conversion method.
As a result, the proposed time-stretch method maintains the degree of awakening compare with the conventional time-stretch method, performed in the same conditions of reproduction time.
