| (in English) | Microsaccades are small, rapid, involuntary eye movements which are known to occur during fixation. Recent studies demonstrated that auditory attentional cues could induce microsaccadic inhibition, a transient drop of microsaccade rate. In this study, we computed two novel parameters of microsaccades, damping factor and natural frequency, by considering the response curve of a microsaccade as the step response of a second-order transfer function. By using an auditory oddball paradigm, we found that the damping factor of microsaccade, which is an indicator of the accuracy in positioning-control, temporarily decreases with the presentation of salient sounds. This result indicates that the bottom-up attention, caused by salient sounds, could affect the positioning-control of the oculomotor system. | |
