Metal Rod Transmission Line inserted in Dielectric Tube at Millimeter-wave Frequencies

(in English) The transmission line consisting of the metal rod inserted in the dielectric tube was proposed with the aim to create low-loss and flexible transmission lines in millimeter-wave bands in this paper. After the decision of the transmission line specifications, the characteristics were considered in consideration of the bend and the eccentric of the metal rod. First, the cutoff frequency of the LSE-like mode and the transmission losses were calculated while changing the outer diameter of the metal rod to insert and the metal rod was assumed to be the silver with 0.3mm outer diameter from the results. Next, the transmission line models were analyzed while changing the eccentric distances and the radius of curvature when the line had the eccentric in the horizontal or vertical directions or these and the bend. As a result, it was verified that the transmission line was low loss in the transmission band and the mode conversions were sufficiently negligible even if the line has the eccentric and steep bend.
