A Study on Performance Evaluation Model Considering Batch Arrival of Control Signal in LTE Core Network

(in English) Many people have come to use mobile network more frequently with the penetration of smartphones, which cause large-scale traffic congestion and communication failure. It has been pointed out as one of the major factors that a huge number of requests arrive at a server in a short time, i.e. batch arrival. Traffic volume is typically represented by an arrival rate; however, the arrival rate does not include the information of batch arrival, especially batch size. In order to provide stable operation, it is an important task to clarify a performance characteristic of communication server considering batch arrival. In this paper, a new parameter that stands for the ratio of batch arrival in all traffic is introduced. We then evaluate a performance of mobile core by a simulation based on a queuing model focused on the communication server, and show the newly introduced parameter has a great impact in server performance. The simulation results also clarify an effect of dispersion for the batch arrival of communication requests.
