Improvement of Fairness in QCN/BS Applied for Multiple-Bottleneck Unicast Communications in Data Center Networks

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) QCN(Quantized Congestion Notification) is proposed for layer 2 congestion control in data center networks. We have proposed QCN/BS(QCN with Bottleneck Selection) which resolves excessive rate regulation problem caused by too many feedbacks from multiple bottleneck links. In this paper, we evaluate QCN/BS in unicast communications with tandem multiple bottleneck links. Our evaluation results surprisingly show that throughput of a long flow going through multiple bottleneck links is degraded. In this paper, we carefully investigate the reason for this fairness problem. And we also show our proposed rate increase algorithm for QCN can reasonably improve fairness of this long flow.
