Generation mechanisms of the wavelength chirp in Mach-Zehnder type electrooptic modulator are quite different from those in semiconductor lasers of the direct modulation operation or absorption modulators. The time dependence of the chirp parameters in EO modulator were analyzed for various operation conditions. And the measurement method of the small chirp parameters by using the optical spectra of modulated signals was also considered. |
