A theoretical study on spatial homogeneity of spin polarization in an optically pumped K-Rb hybrid atomic magnetometer toward biomagnetic field measurements

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) An optically pumped K-Rb hybrid atomic magnetometer is suitable in realizing simultaneous signal measurements at multiple locations since it is hardly influenced by an attenuation of a pump beam inside a sensor cell. However, in order to describe the characteristics at each location precisely, we need to consider a spatial distribution of spin polarization of alkali metal atoms in the cell. In this study, we numerically solved the Bloch equations considering the spatial distribution of spin polarization due to the attenuation of the pump beam and the diffusion of spin polarization, and found that the spatial homogeneity of the K-Rb hybrid cell is better than that of a K cell.
