| (in English) | Human joint coordination allows a variance of joints which does not affect the task achievement. Therefore, the human needs to discriminate whether the variance of joints affects the task achievement, i.e., to perceive the redundant direction in the task. This study investigates human sensory information perceiving the redundant direction in the task. In a target-tracking task, one- and two-dimensional target trajectories of the hand were specified so that the direction perpendicular to the movement direction was the redundant direction and then the control direction, respectively. Subject's hand was perturbed by a robot arm during the tracking task. Results showed that the response to the perturbation was significantly smaller in the redundant direction than that in the control direction, and these responses were faster than those in the task giving the visual perturbation as the robot arm. These results suggest that the human somatosensory feedback controller obtains information corresponding to the redundant direction which is acquired through visual information. | |
