Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Circular polarization is one of the transmission techniques that rotates the polarized wave proceeding with time. The circular polarization can be applied to MIMO transmission by right-handed circularly polarized wave and left-handed circularly polarized wave concurrently because these two waves keep orthogonality with each other and can transmit independent information data at the same frequency. Further, circularly polarized wave mitigates an influence of time variant multipath fading in satellite communications and land mobile communications. This is also an advantage point of circular polarization. Therefore, the MIMO transmission composed of circularly polarized antenna would be an attractive transmission technique for broadband land mobile communications in street cell. In this study, evaluations on propagation characteristics of circularly polarized MIMO transmission method are conducted by computer simulation assuming a street cell model which consists of a direct wave and two reflective waves due to the building surrounding a road. In the simulation results, distribution of the condition number indicating the channel separation properties of MIMO transmission and reflection coefficients based on both concrete and iron are presented.
