(in English) In recent years, mental illness onset and lonely death of the elderly living alone has become a social problem. The development of home based support system with automatic response function is able to solve these problems. The purpose of this study is to construct index to detect response timing for sustaining utterance of elderly living alone. In this study, multiple regression analysis based on prosodic information and power contained in utterance of elderly was conducted to predict response timing. The accuracy of the predict equation was verified. Results of verification proved that predict equation was possible to detect response timing for sustaining utterance of them.
