Auditory Brain-Computer Interface Using Selective Attention

(in English) A brain-computer interface (BCI) is an alternative communication channel between human and a computer, which is able to translate the brain activities of the patients suffering from some severe disabled diseases into the computer commands to communicate with the external world. One of useful features in BCI is event related potentials (ERP), which is evoked by various stimulus such as auditory and visual stimuli. In particular, using auditory stimuli, a patient of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis can use these BCI. In previous work, a negativity is elicited at anterior contralateral electrodes of the bilateral stimulus in about 200 ms after stimulus onset. However, a BCI using this feature has never been established. Therefore, we propose a system that discriminates the direction of user's attention using bilateral stimuli and input 2 commands. Moreover, we show that it can be identified through experimentation.
