A proposal of a power consumption model of a CCNx router

(in English) CCN (Content-Centric Networking), which caches packets on routers in the network, is expected to reduce power consumption of entire networks as well as their total traffic. One of important research challenges is to precisely estimate how consumed power is reduced by caching techniques to validate and compare various techniques. This paper proposes a power consumption model of a software-based CCN router which takes into consideration powers consumed by CPU intensive CCN protocol procedures. The main contributions of this paper are twofold: First, the model is one of the first realistic ones which deeply consider computation CCN protocols. Second, the model is empirically validated.
