Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We describe a method of representing relative positional relationship of regions extracted from a video footage of football games in a qualitative form, and deriving occurrences of events from this representation in a framework of qualitative spatio-temporal reasoning. We propose a new compact qualitative representation for mereological and directional relations of regions of objects such as players, ball and goal extracted from each frame of a video data. We de ne an event as the sequence of a speci c relation, and derive its occurrence in a video data. We also show our experimental results using actual video data. This qualitative spatio-temporal method reduces
computational complexity and provides clear semantics de ning an event.
