An Approach of Rate-Distortion Optimized Quantization and its Evaluation

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page) 
(in English) Rate-distortion optimized quantization (RDOQ) is becoming a popular technology to improve its video coding performance.
It is able to determine the optimal value among multiple quantization candidates.
However, it has high design complexity becuause it requires many candidates search for each quantization.
We propose an algorithm to reduce its complexity by changing the bit rate estimation method and by excluding low scored candidates for the quantization, and evaluate its performance.
