A Study on PAPR Reduction Technique in MFSK/DS Block Transmission

(in English) MFSK/DS block transmission has been proposed as a kind of spread spectrum schemes. In the MFSK/DS block transmission, FSK signal is spread by phase rotation sequences, so that the transmission signal has constant amplitude. This low PAPR property, however, is not kept when the transmission signal is oversampled. To reduce the PAPR of the oversampled signal, one of common PAPR reduction schemes for OFDM signals, ICF (Iterative Clipping & Filtering), could be employed for the MFSK/DS block transmission. However, iterative nonlinear processing in ICF leads to the increase of the circuit scale, the increase of the processing delay, and the performance degradation. In this paper, we propose a novel PAPR reduction scheme for MFSK/DS block transmission without iteration. Our computer simulations show that the proposed scheme can reduce the PAPR of the MFSK/DS block transmission signal to 0.4dB without any bit error rate performance degradation. As a result, nonlinear power amplifiers can be operated at IBO=0dB.
