In next generation wireless communication systems, broadband data services are required even in high mobility environment. In conventional centralized antenna network (CAN), the received power at a location remote from BS significantly degrades due to propagation loss. Distributed antenna network (DAN) is an effective scheme to solve this problem. Recently, we have studied DAN using frequency-domain space-time block coded joint transmit/receive diversity (FD-STBC-JTRD). In DAN, some distributed antennas can always be visible from mobile terminal (MT) with a high probability, and hence, the channel is expected to be line-of-sight (LOS) channel. Therefore, the fading can be characterized as doubly-selective (time- and frequency-selective) Nakagami-Rice fading. In this paper, we introduce sparse channel estimation method which is suitable for doubly selective Nakagami-Rice fading and evaluate downlink throughput performance of FD-STBC-JTRD in DAN in high mobility environment by using computer simulation. It is shown that FD-STBC-JTRD performs better throughput performance in DAN compared to CAN even in high mobility environment. |
