Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) By applying autonomous interference-aware channel segregation based dynamic channel assignment (IACS-DCA) algorithm which measures the co-channel interference (CCI) power received from surrounding stations (STAs) and assigns the channel, each access point (AP) can adaptively form a channel reuse pattern with minimum CCI to surrounding APs and STAs. Recently, we investigated the application of IACS-DCA into WLAN using time division duplex (TDD). In IACS-DCA, uplink CCI is supposed to be measured by APs. Incidentally, APs periodically transmit beacon signals in WLAN. IACS-DCA can be easily implemented in WLAN by measuring beacon signal power as CCI power. However, the uplink CCI power from STAs, which is supposed to be measured, and the beacon signal power received from surrounding APs are different because propagation loss and shadowing loss of them are not always equal. Therefore, the selected channel is not always the channel which minimizes CCI to surrounding APs and STAs. Since the propagation loss between the AP and other AP and the propagation loss between the AP and other STA are almost the same, the shadowing correlation has much effect on the channel reuse pattern formed by IACS-DCA. In this paper, we study the impact of shadowing correlation on IACS-DCA using beacon signal power received from surrounding APs. We show by computer simulation that IACS-DCA using beacon signal can achieve a good signal-to-interference-ratio (SIR) performance similar to IACS-DCA using the actual CCI measurement when shadowing correlation value ρ is more than 0.4.
