Combined Learning Based Cell Selection and Transmit Power Reduction in Heterogeneous Networks

(in English) Cell range expansion (CRE) expands a pico cell range virtually with bias values, which can make cell edge throughput and network throughput improved. Although UE outage can be reduced with bias values set by each UE not with the common ones among all user equipments (UEs), it is difficult to find the optimal ones in terms of calculation complexity. Moreover, the available resources of macro base stations (MBSs) are restricted by ICIC. Although the reduction of transmit power of MBSs allows them to utilize protected resources, the amount of the reduction has been less discussed. In this report, we propose a scheme to select a cell and to configure the transmit power of MBSs with Q-learning to reduce the number of UE outages. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the average throughputs and the average number of UE outages compared with a scheme to configure the common bias value and transmit power of MBSs with Q-learning.
