User Selection MAI Canceller in DS-CDMA Distributed Antenna Network

(in English) Distributed antenna network (DAN), in which many antennas are spatially distributed, can mitigate the negative impacts of not only the fading but also the propagation path loss and the shadowing loss, and accordingly, achieves a good transmission performance in entire the service area. Recently, we investigated the uplink capacity of direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) DAN with extended diversity and showed that DS-CDMA DAN with extended diversity can achieve higher uplink capacity than single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) DAN while DS-CDMA can alleviate complex channel allocation. However, the uplink capacity of DS-CDMA DAN is still limited even if extended diversity is applied due to multiple access interference (MAI). To achieve higher uplink capacity, we consider MAI canceller. In DAN, the number of simultaneously accessing users per antenna is few and hence, the uplink capacity can be improved by cancelling a few users with respect to each antenna. In this paper, we investigate the MAI canceller for DS-CDMA DAN. It is shown by computer simulation that DS-CDMA DAN achieves higher uplink capacity with low computational complexity for MAI canceller.
