Study on chaos MIMO transmission scheme using log likelihood ratio for application of turbo-like codes

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The chaos multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission scheme achieves both physical layer security and channel coding gain. The channel coding in chaos MIMO is conducted with rate 1, that means no loss of transmission efficiency, but generates good coding gain. The decoding complexity is, however, exponentially increased in chaos MIMO because of the maximum likelihood sequential estimation (MLSE), and hence the code length of chaos MIMO cannot be very long. Then, it is expected that the further coding gain will be obtained by concatenating an outer channel code. In the conventional study, the MLSE of chaos MIMO is hard decision and the outer code can conducted only the hard decision decoding, and as a result, the effect of code concatenation is limited. Therefore, to obtain the further performance improvement by the concatenation, we introduce a log-likelihood ratio (LLR) into chaos MIMO that enables a soft MLSE decoding, and propose a turbo decoding of the chaos MIMO transmission system with outer codes. In the proposed scheme, the LLR is exchanged between chaos MIMO demodulator and outer channel decoder. The improved performances are shown by numerical results.
