Noise Tolerance of Eigenvalues in Eigenvalue Modulated Optical Transmission System

(in English) The eigenvalues of the Dirac-type eigenvalue equation associated to the nonlinear Schr${rm ddot{o}}$dinger equation (NLSE) are invariables even though the temporal waveforms and spectra dynamically change during propagation in nonlinear dispersive fiber. Therefore, the eigenvalue is more ideal information carrier than the optical pulse amplitude, frequency, and/or phase in conventional modulation formats. We have proposed an eigenvalue demodulation method based on digital coherent technology. In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate the transmission of eigenvalue modulated signal. In addition, we experimentally add amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise to a pulse sequence to study the noise tolerance of the demodulated eigenvalues.
