A Study on Phase Detection of 21-GHz Band Broadcasting Satellite with Array-fed Reflector Antenna

(in English) A 21-GHz band satellite broadcasting system is being studied as a means to achieve a large transmission capacity for delivering 8K (Super Hi-Vision), 3DTV, and other advanced forms of broadcasting. An array-fed reflector antenna is an effective means of exploiting limited resources because of its ability to control radiation patterns to shape high gain in rainfall area since the 21-GHz band suffers from severe fading due to rain. The radiation patterns of the array-fed reflector antenna are altered by controlling the phase; therefore, a phase detection of each element in the feed-array is important to realize the reconfigurable radiation pattern system. In this work, we studied the phase detection by applying modulated signals for the 21-GHz band broadcasting satellite system.
