A Study on Combining Visible Light Spread Spectrum Techniques in Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication and Ranging Systems to Automotive Radar

(in English) This paper proposes a novel method for highly reliable ranging and improved vehicle-to-vehicle communications. Our approach combines existing automotive laser radar with visible light boomerang systems in a Laser Radar Visible Light Boomerang System (LRVLBS). LRVLBS synchronously gauges distance with laser radar and Visual Light for ranging plus detailed vehicle-to-vehicle communication. To evaluate extraneous light source interference and distance-related signal attenuation, simulations were performed using a random mix of extraneous interference pulse. Results demonstrate our LRVLBS approach enables simultaneous distance feedback for increased ranging accuracy, and may provide detailed data over and above simple laser radar data enhancing vehicle-to-vehicle communications for ITS precision and safety.
