Gaze Estimation using Fingertip Gaze Calibration

(in English) This paper proposes a gaze estimation method based on the fingertip gaze calibration which used the user's fingertip not using the special item. In the proposed method, a developed Inside-Out camera which consists of two cameras (an eye camera and a scene camera) and infrared LEDs is used. In the calibration mode, a center point of pupil is detected from an eye camera image, and a fingertip is detected from a scene camera image. In the gaze mode, the gaze point of the scene camera image is estimated using the detected pupil point from the eye camera image. We carried out the evaluation experiments for various fingertip shapes and subjects. It was found that the gaze point could be estimated with an average error angle of about 2.2 degrees.
