[Invited Lecture] Study of Measurement Method of Transmitter Characteristecs of Active Array Antenna for Cellular Base Station

(in English) Active array Antenna System (AAS) is expected for base station antenna of next generation mobile communication system (IMT-Advanced). In conventional measurement method of transmitter characteristics, the measurement point is defined at the antenna port. However, it is difficult for the AAS to apply conventional measurement method of transmitter characteristics because the AAS consists of the transceiver and antenna in common radome. In this report, we propose the simplification method for measuring AAS Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) using OTA measurement in anechoic chamber, and even if there is not sufficient distance between the AAS and the OTA measuring instrument show measurement error less than 1.0 dB.
