| (in English) | In this lecture, several researches on image recognition ant its applications to medical and sports fields, performed by the author for about 35 years from the late 1970’s, will be introduced. The first one was development of a system called AISCR-V3 for automated screening of chest X-ray images. After that, systems for organ extraction and/or tumor detection from double contrast stomach X-ray images, chest CT images, and abdominal CT images have been developed. In the late 1980’s, the author has started to develop an expert system named IMPRESS for automated construction of image processing procedures. This may be the first system which can generate processing procedures automatically based on a pictorial query given by user. From the late 1990’s, applications of image processing and visual simulation to the sports field have also been performed. Especially, a dynamic sphere influence called Dominant Region proposed by the author has been used for analysis of group behavior as seen in a soccer game.
