Improvement of Decoding Performance for Network and Multi-route Coding in Wireless Mesh Networks

(in English) In wireless mesh networks, flooding causes a broadcast storm problem.
Random network coding can mitigate the effect of the broadcast storm
problem in wireless mesh networks.
However, it cannot correct bit errors, and it should forward
more and more packets to recover bit errors.
On the other hand, multi-route coding was proposed to reduce
bit errors on wireless channels in wireless mesh networks.
This coding scheme can obtain a coding and diversity gain by
transmitting multiple coded packets on multiple routes.
This paper proposes a decoding scheme for network and multi-route
coding to improve the packet error rate.
In this scheme, a receiving node calculates likelihood of information
sequence based on route characteristic, and uses this likelihood as
the input of decoder for multi-route coding.
As a result of simulation, the proposed decoding scheme can improve
the packet error rate.
