In this research, the effect of the frame size and the window function to adjacent channel interference have been evaluated in overlapped FFT based spectrum sensing for a wireless LAN. Wireless LAN channels are assigned at 5MHz spacing in the 2.4GHz ISM band. In the FFT based energy detection, a shorter FFT frame size deteriorates the amount of suppression in the stop band of a receive filter and increases the probability of wrong detection owing to the interference signal. In this research, the probabilities of detection and probability of wrong detection are evaluated based on the frame size. Furthermore, a window function is used for each FFT frame to suppress the adjacent channel interference. Numerical results obtained through computer simulation show that the overlapped FFT scheme with a Nuttall window increases the probability by 0.06 higher than that without overlapping and using the window functions when the probability of wrong detection is 0.9. |
