Basic BLER Study of Faster-than-Nyquist for OFDM/OQAM in Multipath Fading Channel

(in English) This paper investigates basic average block error rate (BLER) performance of Faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) using turbo soft interference canceller (SIC) for OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)/OQAM (Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) in a multipath Rayleigh fading channel. We first describe an outline of multiplexing schemes of physical channels
for non-orthogonal multi-access. Then, based on the proposed structures in [1], we describe a transmitter structure that generates FTN signal for OFDM/OQAM using IFFT as in orthogonal OFDM, and a receiver structure that derives FTN signal and suppresses inter-symbol and inter-subcarrier interferences by using turbo SIC. By computer simulation results, we show that FTN with OFDM/OQAM using turbo SIC improves frequency efficiency at the cost of the increasing required average received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) satisfying the target average BLER.
