Study on Ionospheric Propagation Characteristics of MF Band Waves Observed in the Arctic

(in English) Since the solar activities affect the ionospheric radio wave propagation characteristics, it is important to understand the impact of solar activities. In this study, we focused on the MF band broadcasting waves having a feature of long-range propagation by ionospheric reflection. And we observed the MF band waves at Kiruna, Sweden, located in the Arctic area. As a result, received levels of broadcasting waves were affected by the ionospheric disturbances due to effects of solar activities, such as flare, in addition to ordinary daylights. Further it was observed that there were fluctuation shifts in the received levels due to the difference of the ionospheric reflection point in the latitude.
