SlowMAC: Receiver Initiated MAC Protocol toward Low Dutycycle and Low Data Losses

(in English) In Wireless Sensor Networks, sensor node's readio module is the
major energy consumer.
MAC layer
controls the radio module.
There are many of MAC protocols for reducing energy consumption of the sensor nodes.
In recent works, the most basic idea for reducing dutycycle is
turning sensor nodes' radio modules on periodically and listening the channel for brief time.
The performance of MAC protocol depends on
the period of turning the radio module on.
In this paper, we present SlowMAC which is a MAC protocol
assuming the monitoring applications that don't require the low latency wireless communication.
SlowMAC enables us to reduce dutycycle without big drop of packet delivery ratio.
Our experiment show SlowMAC reduced dutycycle 84.9% compared with existing MAC protocol implementation in the best case.
