Evaluation of Synchronized Method of Timeslot for Multi-ring in Optical L2 Switch Network

(in English) We are developing an optical layer-2 switch network (OL2SW-NW) that can efficiently aggregate traffic in a large-scale metro NW, which is constructed mainly by the technologies of wavelength switching and burst transmission in 10 Gbit/s Ethernet Passive Optical Network (10G-EPON). The OL2SW-NW is based on WDM/TDM ring NWs of N WDM channels. This allows the bandwidth of wavelengths in the NW to be shared with the ground paths between aggregation switches on the access NW and IP routers on the core NW. It is necessary to adjust the timing of timeslot between each node because of bufferless switching in the OL2SW-NW. However, in a ring NW, when the delay around the ring is not an integral multiple of TS, the timing of the arrival of TS deviates from the TDM control timing. In this case, each node cannot control the TS that arrives at the node. As a result, discard of the TS occurs. For this problem, we proposed a method for synchronizing TSs to achieve TS exchange between arbitrary nodes with any delay around the ring in the WDM/TDM multi-rings network. This method has the characteristic that it is possible to set the TDM control timing for each node simply by only having to measure the delay around the ring. In this paper, we evaluated the accuracy of TS synchronization in the WDM/TDM NW of two stage rings by using the prototype system.
