Steady state analysis on Leader-Laggard relationship in synchronized semiconductor lasers with low-frequency fluctuations

(in English) We investigate transient dynamics of synchronized low frequency fluctuations (LFFs) in mutually coupled semiconductor lasers.
We observe repeated spontaneous switching of leader-laggard relationship in two lasers.
We found that the relationship between the optical frequencies of the two lasers decides the leader laser with sudden intensity dropouts of LFFs.
We explain this phenomenon by using an analysis of steady state solutions in the Lang-Kobayashi equations that describe the dynamics of semiconductor lasers.
We found that the optical frequency of the leader laser attracts the optical frequency of the laggard laser while the trajectories of the two
lasers wander many steady state solutions, and spontaneouts switching of leader-laggard relationship occurs.
We also found that sudden intensity dropouts occur at the maximum gain mode obtained from the analysis of steady state solutions in a solitary laser with optical feedback.
