Development of a DC Power-supply Circuit for a Low Power Rectenna

(in English) This study proposes a RF-DC-DC circuit for an mW low power RF-DC rectifier circuit to improve the efficiency-load characteristic. We know that the conversion efficiency of a RF-DC rectifier circuit is strictly affected by the load and the input power. There is an optimum load for maximum conversion efficiency in RF-DC rectifier circuit. The proposed RF- DC-DC circuit consists of a RF-DC rectifier and a DC-DC converter. The input impedance of this DC-DC converter can maintain constant even though the load resistance is changed. If we set the input impedance of the DC-DC converter equal to the optimum load of rectifier, the rectifier circuit can work at the maximum power point independent of the load resistance. We measured the designed RF-DC-DC circuit with a 2.45 GHz microwave power of 80 mW. The conversion efficiency of the RF-DC circuit along is over 80% in a wide range of load from 200 Ohm to 5000 Ohm, when it is connected to the DC-DC converter. Furthermore, the overall efficiency of the RF-DC-DC circuit is almost constant over 66% in this wide load range.
