Spatial Modulation based Full-duplex Communication and its Applications

(in English) This paper proposes a novel full-duplex communication system based on a spatial modulation. Recently, spatial modulation has been proposed and got much attention due to its advantages compared with the conventional MIMO system such as spatial multiplexing and space-time coding. Spatial modulation selects only one antenna element from multiple transmit antennas according to the mapping rule of spatial mapper by using switch circuit. Thus, the transmitter needs only one RF chain, while the receiver does not need to detect the received signal, which leads to significant simplification of devices at both sides. However, there is the waste of antenna resources because the remaining transmit antenna elements which have not been selected are not utilized. We focus on its fact and propose to make full use of antenna resources which results in the realization of a full-duplex communication system. Furthermore, we apply the spatial modulation based full-duplex system to the relay node in the triangle relay channel. Computer simulations shows that the relay system with the spatial modulation based full-duplex can significantly improve its performance.
