Improvement of digital watermark for audio signals with phase shift based on octave similarity

(in English) Digital watermark based on octave similarity is one of powerful methods to embed information in audio signals. This method utilizes human auditory characteristics that we recognize two notes, which are an octave apart, as the same kind. This method is realized by two ways, one is modulating the amplitude and the other is shifting the phase of the frequency spectrum of the audio signals. Usually, the latter is more preferable, because the signal modulation is less perceivable. Still, noise is not negligible, when the conventional method using phase shift is applied to delicate classical music, such as a piano piece. The conventional method shifts the phase with /4 depending on whether the embed information is 0 or 1. In this paper, a new method of digital watermark based on octave similarity with phase shift is proposed. This method shifts the phase with less amount. In this case, the watermark becomes weak to attacks, thus we also propose methods to make it robust by setting the phase apart for each embedded information, and utilizing the stereo information in detection. The high performance of the new method is verified in computer simulations.
