Judicial precedent retrieval system Justice based on text semantic matching
Hiroto Kobatake, Minoru Harada (Aoyama Gakuin Univ.) NLC2013-33
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We developed a judicial precedent retrieval system Justice, which outputs the judicial precedent similar to the inputted outline of an incident. Similarity between an incident and a judicial precedent is judged by the size of the intersection between the semantic graphs translated from them by the semantic analysis system SAGE. Similarity determination based on word meaning like this can absorb the sentence meaning difference caused by orthographical variants, and can also evaluate the similarity of semantic relationships between clauses. The result of evaluation using index system table of contents of Hanrei Times for the cases of 10, the ratio of the retrieved top 10 precedents is similar to the input case was 66%.
