Implementation of a fast runtime visualization of a GPU-based electromagnetic simulation using a 3D-FDTD method

(in English) In this paper, we present implementation and evaluation of a fast runtime visualization of a GPU-based electromagnetic simulation using a 3D-FDTD method. The proposed framework was designed with the MVC model, focusing on improving the productivity of GPU application development without compromising simulation performance. In order to achieve high-speed visualization, an interoperability mechanism between OpenGL and CUDA was used in addition to efficient utilization of programmable shaders. As a result of performance evaluation of electromagnetic simulations for practical antenna design, it was revealed that our system achieved a rendering throughput of 90,FPS for a viewport of 512 $times$ 512 pixels.
