Channel Equalizer for SDM MIMO-OFDM Systems with Insufficient Guard Interval

(in English) A long delay multipath is one of the factors of the poor reception when receiving the digital terrestrial broadcast signals. If we consider this problem based on the fundamental concept of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), the guard interval (GI) length should be longer than the maximum multipath delay time of channel on the transmission side. However, since the broadcast channel responses are wide variety, there are any cases of the GI length may be doubled or more compared to the current value and it decrease the spectral efficiency and service contents quality. Therefore, the problem is desired to be solved on the receiver side. Towards the next generation broadcast system, this paper proposes the SDM (Space Division Multiplexing) MIMO (Multi-Input Multi Output)-OFDM receiver for multipath environment with maximum delay time over the GI. The proposed system employs the time domain spatial fi lters, the frequency domain channel equalizers and the frequency domain spatial fi lters to achieve the stream separation and the channel equalization. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed system.
