A corporate-feed hollow-waveguide slot array has two waveguide layers, because the width of the broad wall of a hollow rectangular waveguide has to be larger than the half wavelength, and the feeding circuit and the radiating part are separated in different layers. The authors have adopted hollow rectangular coaxial lines to the feeding circuit, and designed a single-layer corporate-feed 16×16-element slot array in the 60-GHz band. The bandwidth for the reflection less than 14 dB (VSWR ≤ 1.5) is 8.7%. The directivity is 33.2 dBi (87.8% aperture efficiency) and the gain is 32.6 dBi (76.3% antenna efficiency) at 61.5 GHz. The antenna has been fabricated by diffusion bonding of laminated thin metal plates. |
