Signal detection characteristics of ISDB-T emergency warning broadcasting in mobile reception environments

(in English) In Japan, the emergency warning broadcasting, alerting occurrence of earthquake or tsunami, is in operation on the digital television signals. Some televisions with the ISDB-T terrestrial television broadcasting standard have the functions of turning the power on and selecting a disaster report program while the television station broadcasts the program. The detection is based on the information at the emergency warning flag in TMCC (Transmission and Modulation Configuration Control) signal in digital television signals. In a mobile reception environment, an increase in TMCC signal reception errors due to the Doppler spread results in error in detecting the emergency flag on TMCC signal. In this paper, the characteristics of detecting the emergency warning status with use of the TMCC parities as well as the emergency flag is evaluated in mobile reception environments.
