Development of an X-band 800W pulse mini-TWT for Phased Array Applications

(in English) Various phased array systems enable usage in radar and communication applications. These systems can produce a high directivity radiation pattern, which demand compact size, high RF output power and high overall efficiency of the array elements. Developing a mini-TWT (miniature Traveling Wave Tube) is the key criteria to achieving these features. Focusing on MPMs (Microwave Power Modules) for phased array radar systems, this paper describes our successful development of a mini-TWT delivering high RF output power of more than 800W over the frequency range of 9 to 10GHz with an high overall efficiency of 41%. This mini-TWT achieves compact size in a package of 20mm(W) x 20mm(H) x 213mm(L) with a lightweight of 0.4kg.
