In this paper, we conducted measurements of received power distributions in an office environment in the UHF band and investigated the location-dependency of received power. The propagation path loss curve is estimated based on the previous literature, and performance improvement obtained through antenna diversity techniques is examined through simulations. From the measurement results, we found that the path loss characteristics in the same room can be easily obtained from the shielding ratio of the first Fresnel zone due to furniture such as partitions and the ceiling. We also found that by using receiver antenna diversity utilizing receiver arrays with antenna spacing of about half wavelength, we can avoid deep fading effects of about -30dB compared to free space path loss. |
