Tor is an anonymous network that provides privacy and anonymity to users all over the world, by relaying traffics through the three onion routers before being forwarded to the destination. In this paper, we show that Tor suffers from the performance issues, because bandwidth is limited to how much a user is willing to allocate for Tor's usage. This scenario frequently leads to increasing delays that are not tolerated by the average end-users. We discuss these delays in more detail and perform the comprehensive study to evaluate the relative contributions for delays in the node. We use a simple model to analyze the delay components that contribute to degrade the Tor performance, due to poor TCP congestion control and high traffic queuing in the buffers. We evaluate our proposed mathematical models and present our experimental results as a prerequisite for addressing the Tor??s poor delay performance. |
