[Invited Lecture] Study on Interference Coordination for Device to Device Direct Communication underlaying LTE-Advanced Network

(in English) Proximity Service (ProSe), which enables user equipment (UE) to discover other UEs in proximity and to communicate directly without passing core network, is being standardized as an important factor of LTE-Advanced in 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). In this paper, the features of ProSe discussed in 3GPP RAN WG1 and channel model for device-to-device (D2D) communication are introduced first, and then we present simulation results of system performance with D2D communication in cellular’s uplink bandwidth using resource partitioning, resource sharing, and coordinated resource sharing focusing on the improvement of spectral efficiency.
