To realize “User-Centric Wireless Networks” which integrates various wireless systems on a unified hardware platform toward equipment miniaturization, we examine a multi-band power amplifier (PA) and digital predistortion (DPD) to compensate for nonlinear distortion. DPD is needed to track nonlinear time-varying characteristic of PA due to a change over time or a change in temperature. To compensate for this time-varying characteristic, adaptive predistorter which updates and optimizes coefficients of a polynomial expression is often used. In this adaptive predistorter, coefficients are updated to minimize adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) or error vector magnitude (EVM) but convergence speed is slow if non-orthogonal polynomial model is applied for DPD design. Therefore, orthogonal polynomial model based on the probability distribution of input signal to PA is applied to improve the convergence speed. In this paper, we propose adaptive predistorter based on orthogonal polynomial model for dual-band single carrier signal. |
